Instruct The Whole Child
Mount Olive’s approach instructs the whole child. First and foremost, students are instructed in God’s Word and all it teaches. As it was recorded by Moses, “These words in which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-8)
In addition to instruction in the content areas of math, literacy, science, and social sciences, students are instructed in art, music, and physical education.
The curriculum is regularly studied and updated by faculty members and the Board of Education. Content area subjects are taught using Sadlier Math, Saxon Math, Bob Jones University Science, and Shurley English.
Standardized Testing
Mount Olive participates in the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. MAP is a renowned assessment tool that provides essential data on student mastery, development, and growth. Over 9 million students worldwide participate in NWEA MAP testing.
Technology
Teachers at Mount Olive regularly incorporate technology into classroom instruction. Each classroom is equipped with a Promethean Activboard, putting visual interactive learning into the hands of students and teachers. In addition to Activboards, all Mount Olive students have access to iPads and learning software, such as IXL, Typing Pal, and Accelerated Reader.
